1. Start Researching Your Scientist for Your Presentation

On November 4, you’ll be doing your presentation on a scientist. That’s in TWO WEEKS! Your presentation is 5 minutes. Also, you will turn in one well-written paragraph (please use the format you’re learning).

If you haven’t already, choose the scientists you want to do a presentation on HERE.

Only one student per scientist. Please do not erase someone else’s name.

Presentation Guidelines

  • 5 minutes or less
  • Must be engaging/interesting (DON’T BE BORING!)
  • Examples of previous presentations:
    • Short activity
    • Puppet show
    • Short skit
    • Video/animation
    • Playing a game
  • Practice your presentation before you come to class! Make sure it works and is less than 5 minutes.

3. History Study

Spend 60+ minutes researching the following topic during this time period.

TUDORS & STUARTS (England)

1485 – 1714

  1. Read Usborne Encyclopedia of World History (UEWH) pgs 302-307.
  2. Spend at least 45 additional minutes studying any resource focused on this time period (YouTube, documentary, picture book, magazine, etc.).

    As you study, fill out your Time Period Study worksheet.

    You must add information about at least one Key Person, one Key Event, and several Interesting Facts. If you want to do more, fill out more than one worksheet.

4. Timeline

  1. Add the following key dates or figures to your timeline.
  2. Add THREE additional dates that you find during your History Study.
  • 1502 – Henry VIII becomes King of England – Tudor era begins
  • 1534 – Parliament passes Act of Supremacy and breaks from the Catholic Church
  • 1536 – Henry VIII executes Anne Boleyn
  • 1559 – Elizabeth crowned queen of England
  • 1564 – William Shakespeare is born
  • 1603 – James I crowned king of England – Stuart era begins
  • 1605 – Guy Fawkes and Gunpowder Plot are stopped
  • 1611 – King James version of the bible published
  • 1642 – 1651 – English Civil War with Charles I
  • 1666 Great Fire of London rages for 3 days and destroys 2/3rds of the city
  • 1689 – English Bill of Rights signed – Kings now rule jointly with parliament

5. Essay Assignment

Providing Evidence Handout – pgs 4 & 5 (replaces pgs 54-55 in our 5 Paragraph book)

  • Type your answers on your own document rather than writing them on the handout
  • Be sure to include your name, date, and assignment title on your paper
