2. Timeline
These are the timeline dates from last week. If you didn’t finish it from last week, this is a week to catch up.
- Add the following key dates to your timeline.
- Add ONE additional date that you find during your History Study.
- 1807 – Britain outlaws the Atlantic slave trade
- 1833 – Britain passes the Abolition of Slavery Act, ordering gradual abolition of slavery in all British colonies.
- 1848 – France abolishes slavery
- 1863 – Abraham Lincoln passes Emancipation Proclamation freeing all slaves in US
- 1865 – 13th Amendment to US constitution bans slavery
- 1888 – Brazil abolishes slavery
3. History Study
Pop some popcorn and watch the movie Amazing Grace. It’s about the abolition of slavery in England. (We were going to watch this movie together in class.)
You can rent the movie on Amazon, Google Play, or Redbox On Demand. (If you need to be reimbursed, you can submit the cost to rent the movie on the ASA website.)
