2. Timeline
- Add the following key dates to your timeline. Find TWO more key dates to add on your own.
- 1820-1860 First wave of Irish immigrants to the US
- 1880-1920 More than 20 million immigrants arrive in the US
- 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act is passed – barring Chinese from immigrating
- 1892 Ellis Island opens
- 1924 Immigration Act of 1924 limits number of immigrants from different countries
3. History Study
Spend 60+ minutes researching researching the following topic during this time period.
UNITED STATES AND IMMIGRATION
1918-1924
- Spend at least 15 minutes studying in your History Survey text.
- Spend at least 45 additional minutes studying any resource focused on this time period (YouTube, documentary, picture book, magazine, etc.).

You must add information about at least one Key Person, one Key Event, and several Interesting Facts. If you want to do more, fill out more that one worksheet.

Instructions from Last Week
After spring break, you will have one more essay writing assignment to finish out the year.
This time, you’ll be writing an essay to convince me of something. It’s called a “persuasive essay” because you’ll be trying to persuade me.
You don’t have to write anything this week, but you can start thinking about a topic that you have an opinion about that has two sides that you could write about.
I’ll give more examples in the next post. But you can start thinking now. 🙂
