  1. Add the following key dates to your timeline.
  2. Add ONE additional date that you find during your History Study.
  • 1606 – Dutch explorers reach Australia
  • 1642 – Abel Tasman reaches New Zealand
  • 1768 – James Cook’s First Voyage to explore the Pacific
  • 1770 – James Cook claims Australia for England
  • 1779 – Cook is killed in Hawaii
  • 1788 – Britain begins sending convicts to Australia
  • 1840 – Maori give control of New Zealand to Great Britain

4. History Study

  1. Spend 60+ minutes researching researching the following topic during this time period.
