1. Add the following key dates to your timeline. These are all dates when the person was born.
2. Add ONE additional date that you find during your History Study.

• 1473 – Nicolaus Copernicus
• 1546 – Tycho Brahe
• 1564 – Galileo Galilei
• 1571 – Johannes Kepler
• 1578 – William Harvey
• 1596 – René Descartes
• 1627 – Robert Boyle
• 1632 – Antonie van Leeuwenhoek
• 1642 – Isaac Newton

3. History Study

Spend 60+ minutes researching the following topic during this time period.

SCIENTIFIC REVOLUTION
1543 – 1687

1. Spend at least 15 minutes studying in your History Survey text.
   
2. Spend at least 45 additional minutes studying any resource focused on this time period (YouTube, documentary, picture book, magazine, etc.).

   3. As you study, fill out your Time Period Study worksheet.
   
   You must add information about at least one Key Person, one Key Event, and several Interesting Facts. If you want to do more, fill out more that one worksheet.

4. Elegant Essay Reading

Review Chapter 2 of The Elegant Essay, pages 7-9. (Only if you haven’t already.)

5. Writing Assignment

Write a short story to go with your map that you drew in class. You can use one of these ideas or create your own.

NOTE: Be sure to include the map you created in class with your story!

• Myth explaining how something on your map came to be
• A historical highlight or momentous occasion that happened on your map
• An every day moment that explains how people interact

Use the CHECKLIST after you write to make sure you included everything.

Make sure your paper follows the Written Paper Format.

6. Fiction Reading Assignment

Get a copy of The Ghost in the Tokaido Inn.

We will discuss this book in class NOVEMBER 14.
